Baby Chicks: Blue/Black/Splash Orpington

We finally have Blue Orpingtons! We've been asking you which new breeds you'd like us to carry, and this one tops your list. All Orpingtons are gentle, sweet, hardy birds and good layers too, so we recommend them as one of the best breeds for beginners. This one has beautiful slate blue plumage and is quite rare. Our quantities are very limited, so we recommend you reserve yours quickly! 

PLEASE NOTE: The color blue does not hatch "true" in chickens. Blue is a diluting gene for black. So, 50% of our Blue Orpingtons will hatch blue, and 25% will be black. The last 25% will be "splash," having received two diluting genes. Splash is a very light color, pale blue or white with "splashes" of black and darker blue in the feathers, especially in the wings and tail. Please keep in mind when you order that not all of your blues will actually be blue! Learn more about BBS genetics.
