Description:
You may never have even heard of the Golden Cuckoo variety of Marans! This variety is exceedingly rare, and most hatcheries don't even offer them, whether as eggs or day-old chicks. The Cuckoo Marans chicks you find offered at hatcheries are mostly the Silver Cuckoo variety.
The beautiful feathers of the Golden Cuckoo Marans are crossed throughout with irregular dark and light golden colored bars, similar in some ways to Crele coloration. Some birds will also have feathers on their legs!
Egg color with this variety is dark, but not quite as "chocolaty" as the Black Coppers. Colored eggs are always a more vibrant early every laying season, and slowly fade as the season progresses.
