Hail to the Queen! Originating in the UK, Orpingtons have long been an heirloom favorite. They’re big, hardy, friendly, sweet balls of feathers, known to be very good layers, who even lay well in the winter. Now, My Pet Chicken is offering the Jubilee variety of Orpingtons, an exceedingly rare plumage in the United States. We recommend them as one of the best breeds for beginners.

The Jubilee Orpington was so named because it was created for Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee celebration (by the developer of the original Orpington, William Cook). If you’re an anglophile, this is genuinely a must-have chicken!
